Alex Robinson

Alex Robinson is a condutor, violist and haprsichordist based in Manchester.  He gradulated from the University of Manchester in 2016 with a MusB (with Hons) in Music and from the Royal Northern College of Music in 2018 with an MMus (Conducting).  

Alex has worked with a number of professional orchestras includign the BBC Philharmonic, the Moravian Symphony Orchestra, the Prague Philharmonia, the HallĂ©, English Touring Opera and the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic.  Alex was the first Spokane Symphony Orchestra Music Director Fellow in April 2022.  He has worked as assistant conductor to Sir Mark Elder, Juanjo Mena, Sir Andrew Davies, James Lowe and Vassily Petrenko.  He has also worked with local orchestras and choirs including Furness Bach Choir, Sheffield Philharmonic, Rotherham Symphony Orchestra, Stockport Symphony Orchestra and the Amaretti Chamber Orchestra.  

Alex has recently taken up the position of Professor of Conducting at Salford University.  He is a keen advocate of youth music and works regularly with Nottingham Youth Orchestra and tours to Europe with them once a year.  Also a haprischordist, Alex regularly works as repetiteur and Assistant Conductor for various opera companies in the UK.
